Writing a Children’s Book

I used this as a way to review in my geometry classes during the very last week of school. I have many math picture books on a variety of levels, so I gave students a day to browse and read my books and go over the rubric and directions. My students had AMAZING ideas for their books, and I was so pleased at the result. I highly recommend that any classroom tries this. It can be implemented in ANY subject. The project is so much fun, and it gives the kids experience in writing, creating, and reading aloud to their classmates. I even had one student who is trying to get his children’s book about shapes published. How exciting!!

I will post examples soon, but for now, here’s the outline of the project. It’s very detailed, and I was very strict on certain procedures, but it went GREAT!
